Help Make the Sunday Evening Service a Reality!

Help Make the Sunday Evening Service a Reality!

At its meeting in August, the Session affirmed the work of the Worship and Music committee to move towards a new Sunday evening service. The service would be an alternative to the traditional worship that characterizes Sunday morning services, and would feature less formality, highly participatory practices, integrated screens, and weekly communion. The music would be a mix of global, contemporary, and traditional worship songs.

The plan is to work toward a start-date in late January or early February, but only if various supporting pieces come together. You can help with two of these pieces!

First, we need twenty people to commit to worshiping in the evening at this service this spring
(through May 12, 2019) whenever they are in town. Critical mass is, well, critical to a worship experience so this will help others who come to feel comfortable and at ease in the new service.

Second, we need at least five people to serve on a coordinating team which would help with logistics as well as dream about the shape of the service. This team would meet once a month, beginning in November.

If not enough people show interest in helping in these ways, the service will not go forward.
