Congregational Care

First Pres offers various resources that may be of help to you. If you would like to be of help, we have opportunities for you to serve as well.

Pastoral Care

First Pres offers pastoral care to support one another in daily living, especially at times of need or crisis. Our pastors work to provide confidential care to those facing life's spiritual, emotional, and physical challenges.

If you have a need, please email pastoralcare@firstchurchlf.org or call the church office at 847.234.6250.

Deacons Ministry

“It is the duty of Deacons, first and foremost, to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress. Deacons do this by providing internal ministry to the needs of our congregation, inspiring and expanding congregational awareness and providing external ministry to those in need within Lake County.”

See below for a list of ministries we serve.

Flower Delivery

We re-pot flowers from worship and deliver them to church members unable to leave their homes or are living in local nursing homes on Sundays, after worship. To learn more, email moderator@firstchurchlf.org.

Home Communion

Elders and Deacons serve communion to home-bound church members each month. To receive communion, email kfinley@firstchurchlf.org.

Informing the Church

When you or a loved one are ill, hospitalized or facing surgery, please let the church know so you can be held in prayer and our pastors can be in touch. Contact Pastor Kristie Finley at kfinley@firstchurchlf.org.

Prayer Chain

Email prayerchain@firstchurchlf.org. Prayer requests are confidential and shared with the prayer chain “links” by email.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Create hand knitted or crocheted shawls to give to those who are experiencing a catastrophic event in their life. The yarn is prayed over before the knitting begins and prayed over while the shawl is being created. The group blesses each shawl with prayer before presenting it, with a card expressing the hopes and thoughts of the creators and all Presbyterian Women. The group meets on Tuesdays from 1 – 2 p.m. Contact moderator@firstchurchlf.org for info.
