First Pres welcomes our new Preschool Director

The First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest and First Presbyterian Preschool is excited to share the appointment of a new Director, Suzanne Brunner, effective August 12, 2019. Suzie joins the preschool after spending 25 years a teacher then most recently an administrator and teaching support for preschool and Kindergarten children at the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center in Northbrook, Ill. The Search Committee and Parent Board were unanimous in this decision.

Suzie is deeply committed to her students, and looks forward to bringing her steadfast work ethic and passion for early education to FPP. Suzie values strong connectivity among teachers, students and families to create a positive social and academic environment for children, helping to establish a life-long love of learning. Suzie is best known for her can-do attitude, focus on individual children’s needs and her devotion to excellence.  Overseeing classroom curriculum, launching a new Kindergarten program and mentoring nearly 20 staff members over her tenure are some of her many career highlights at the Nielsen Center.

Inspired by our school’s reputation, Suzie looks forward to joining the FPP community as she helps build and evolve our school’s programming and student experience alongside our families, teaching staff and Parent Board. Suzie also recognizes the importance of and is dedicated to building upon the Preschool’s strong relationships with the church; the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff school districts; and the larger Lake Forest and Lake Bluff community.

Suzie has already begun working closely with Kristina Mills, and will continue to over the next few weeks. As we near the beginning of school there will be many opportunities to meet Suzie including the Evening Parent Meetings and Open Houses on September 3 and 4, and the Fall Family Gathering on September 7.

Please join us in welcoming Suzanne “Suzie” Brunner to the First Pres Church and Preschool community. We look forward to her leadership.
