Mano a Mano is a newer partner for First Pres. The agency, founded in 2000, serves the Latino immigrant population in Lake County. Over the past 30 years, there has been a shift in where immigrants are settling. The immigrant population, especially Latino communities, has been growing faster in Chicago collar counties than in the City of Chicago.
Mano a Mano’s mission is to help this population become full participants in American life. It provides quality programs and services that educate and establish links to essential community resources including kindergarten readiness, GED classes and citizenship classes, among others. Last year more than 3,700 individuals were supported through various programs. Our church helps support the kindergarten readiness program.
The main office is located in Round Lake Park, a Latino enclave, although their clients come from all over Lake County. They have community sites in Highland Park, Mundelein, Wauconda and North Chicago.
