September Featured Mission Partner: Mother’s Trust Foundation

This month’s featured Mission Partner is Mother’s Trust Foundation (MTF)! MTF has provided immediate assistance during times of crisis to low-income children living in Lake County for the last 20 years, 1998 – 2018. Their goal is to provide hope, build confidence, and make a positive difference in a young person’s life. From the first small grant in 1998 through mid-year 2018, MTF has assisted some 34,000 children and their families with $2.7 million in grants.

MTF collaborates with the school social workers and counselors at each school district in Lake County, as well as medical professionals, and social services agencies to identify children who fall through the cracks of the social service system. They focus on children and their families who have nowhere else to turn, providing tangible necessities that change lives. After approval, grants are distributed within 24 to 48 hours. Requests are reviewed every Wednesday morning at Service Committee Meetings, which are open to the public, and are held in Lake Forest at the Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, room 205.

First Pres’s Mission Committee awarded Mother’s Trust with a grant in 2018. First Pres members Philippe Melin and Larry Neal are on MTF Board of Directors.
