Done in 60 Minutes: How the Bible became the Bible

Updated Tuesday, February 5: See the video of the presentation below!

Did you ever wonder how we got the Bible? Who wrote its various books? Do we have any actual original copies of any of those books? Who decided which books would be included and which excluded, and when, and how? What does it mean that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit?

If these questions resonate with you, you won’t want to miss the upcoming Done in 60 Minutes session on How the Bible Became the Bible by Pastor Chip Hardwick. The two identical presentations will cover the questions above, and more!

For those who want to dig deeper than 60 minutes allows, Pastor Chip will host a follow-up book club meeting to discuss The Formation of the Bible: The Story of the Church’s Canon by Lee Martin McDonald on Sunday, February 24, 10:10 – 11:00 AM in the Stuart Room. You can purchase a copy of the book for $10 at the presentation on January 27 or from Donna Birney in the church office.

There is no need to register for the Sunday presentation or the book club meetings. Contact Pastor Chip at chardwick@firstchurchlf.org or 224.544.1963 for more information.
