“It is the duty of Deacons, first and foremost, to minister to those in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress. Deacons do this by providing internal ministry to the needs of our congregation, inspiring and expanding congregational awareness and providing external ministry to those in need within Lake County.”
See below for a list of ministries we serve.

First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest believes that our Christian faith compels us to demonstrate God’s compassion, love and healing to all—which includes the military community. First Pres is a military-supporting congregation. If you or a family member are a member of the military (active or reserve) or a veteran who worships here (occasionally or regularly), we’d like to get to know you! Please contact Pastor Kristie at kfinley@firstchurchlf.org.
Our Military Caring Ministry hosts several events throughout the year, including Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day remembrance programs. We also partner with the First Pres Rummage ministry and Military Outreach USA (a national veterans support organization) to donate a broad range of items to previously homeless veterans to furnish their new housing. Our Military Caring Ministry members also assist with other ministries at First Pres.
